6164 Week 3 Blog

This is an amazing assignment and it required me to give a lot of thought to who I would and did interview. I decided to interview my best friend who is a teacher, my sister and my husband. I chose to interview my husband because he is a well-rounded person who has such a pleasant and understanding outlook when it comes to people. His name is Joseph Moye. He has a great compassion for diversity and he accepts people for who they are. My husband grew up in Macon Georgia. His response to culture is a person environment, background, religion, work, where they grew up and their style of living. His answer to diversity is the differences that we experience in life. (J. Moye, personal communication, September 2014),
My sister grew up in Flint MI. Her name is Tonya Westbrooks. Her answer to culture is the society that we live in. Her answer to diversity is the unique patterns of life that we deal with and go through. Also, she said that having the ability to except). Individual’s diversity is what creates a solid and unbiased environment. (T. Westbrooks, personal communication, September 19, 2014)
My close friend Tanisha response was that culture is everything in our lives. It is our thoughts, ideals, family ideals, morals and values. Cultures are everything that we represent and the reason why we do the things that we do ranging from our responses, ambitions and abilities. (T. Brooks, personal communication, September 19, 2014).
It was a joy to hear the response from three different people to measure that thought process regarding culture and diversity. I will say that they had similarities and it flows with what we have been studying in class. When discussing culture, more then just surface culture was discussed. According to Sparks & Edwards (2014) our culture identity determine ow we live our social identity. The participates discussed religion and work which represent the deep culture. As a whole, the information was cover so I would not say that they omitted information.

6164 Week 2: Family Culture

In the event that a castrophic even took place, then the following three items is what I would take with me:

family portrait

necklace with the cross on it

The word castrophic is a big word inside itself.  I had to give a little though to what I would take me.  First, I had to think about the value behind each item and then I had to know and truly understand the reason behind each object.  The family portrait is needed to explain and remind me of where I can from.  The photo will have a huge impact in my life.  The second one is the bible.  Now, this was a no brainer because I knew that if I did not take anything else, I was taking the bible.  The last thing was  cross necklace.  Each one of these items holds a very important message

In the event that I had to leave two things at home, then I would choose the family portrait and the necklace with the cross on it.  I would keep the bible because this is my foundation.  The bible will allow me read and get a sense of self identity. The bible will keep me grounded and help to build my faith when  I am feeling  Also, it help me to know that nothing is impossible when it comes to God.

When I think of Research

The thought of doing research made me very nervous. I did not have a clue of what to look for or how to go about finding it. I must say that I have gained a lot of knowledge and understanding from this course. I have a little more confidence and I would like to continue learning about research. Also, I am more relax when I hear the term research.

Research Around the Word

For this week blog assignment, my choice was the European Early Childhood Education Research Association (EECERA). I spend time learning about European Early Childhood Education Research at the website http://www.eecera.org/. International Research is very similar to local research. They have many of the same focuses in dealing with Early Childhood Education. There were a number of research articles such as literacy development, science instruction, professionalism, barriers to learning, education models, nature and outdoor classrooms, afterschool programming, stress and sensitivity of caregivers, and temperament The EECERA reminds me of NAEYC does research in the area of Early childhood. Both associates focus on the practices, disciples and ethics in early childhood. Also, conference and up to date research is provided to early childhood educators. One of the biggest joy is attending the early childhood conferences. I learn so much and the information is invaluable. The EECER offer conferences just the same.

Research Benefit Hispanic Children and Families

I chose option number one because I know and understand the importance that research add to early childhood development. Research plays an important part and role in the development of children and families. Research provide us with new informaation and discoveries that will help educator make a difference in the lives of both. This research project examined the lives of Hispanic children and fmilies in the area of poverty reduction and self-sufficiency, healthy marriage and responsible fatherhood, and early care and education. The center used a variety of instruments for data collection such as surveys, fact sheets along with other instruments. The children will range from birth to adolescent. The research will provide valuable information that shows how different factors affects the lives of hispanic children and famileis. Also, research will provide different measures that can be used to change or make a positivie impact in these families lives.

Personal Research Journey

The topic that I chose for the stimulation is The components of a high quality early childhood program. I believe that it is important that every child should have the opportunity to receive a quality education no matter what. I have a strong interest in this topic because I would like to be the best that I can be in the field of Early Childhood.

I look forward to finding out as much information as possible to increase my level excellent in Early Childhood.

Final Blog: Issues and Trends, EDUC 6162

Three consequences of learning about the international early childhood field:
1. I am more aware of issues that others face that live in different parts of the world.
2. I have a strong passion for children and families.
3. I have a broader understanding of the different facets of early childhood. Children are not exemple from the issues that deals with regardless of where they live.

One goal for the field related to international awareness of issues and trends and the spirit of collegial relations:
1. One goal is to believe in fighting for the right of children. Using your passion to be an advocate for children and families.
2. It is important to accept the differences that families bring to the early childhood field.
